The Menstrual Health and Hygiene Talk/Disposable Sanitary Pads Distribution organized by The Messenger of Hope International Foundation, an duly registered NGO in partnership with Abuja Run Club (a health/fitness organization based in Abuja).

The event was held at the Government Secondary School, Gosa-Abuja on Friday the 16th February, 2024 with written approval from the Secondary Education Board.

The event commenced by 10:00am with an introduction and welcome remark by the founder, Chinwe Ogbujah H.  She encouraged the girls to be diligent, focused and be optimistic about their outcomes while they work on their academic excellence with integrity. Stay believing, put in the hardwork and hope for the best while they remain prayerful, trusting in God and leveraging friendships to foster a more profitable partnership in the future

The Abuja Run Club was represented by Uwak Ekanem (Coach Kann) and Rachel Omaga. Mr Uwak Ekanem made a few remarks on fitness and encouraged the girls to take their health and Hygiene Seriously. He expressed his excitement to be there and his organization’s delight for the opportunity to make a difference.

Dr Clinton Itotoh (a specialist in Menstrual Therapy and Menstrual Advantage Therapy (M.A.T.)) did an amazing job during his interactive, educative and expository session. He spoke to them about menstruation, the onset and hormonal changes responsible, myths and facts, menstrual cycle and period math, dietary considerations and lifestyle adjustments among other very vital and relevant information that would help them understand and manage their periods effectively and efficiently.

The founder also did a live demonstration on how to wear and remove a pad the healthy way. She did also talk with the girls on menstrual health and practices to prevent infections from pad misuse.

There was a robust Question and Answer Session which helped us to assess the level of knowledge gained and to spotlight key areas that they needed clarifications on.

We are grateful to the Secondary Education Board for this opportunity to reach out to these girls with both information and empowerment for a safer and healthier period. We also thank the management of the school led by Mr. Husseini (The Principal of the School), for their unflinching support towards the success if this event.

This event was a very successful one as about 72 girls were empowered with a pack of Softcare Disposable Sanitary Pads each purchased through cash donation from our partners, Abuja Run Club.
Thank you, Abuja Run Club for your support and donation. Your act of philanthropy has helped us give these girls a safer and healthier period and has also helped to add our voice to the global campaign to #EndPeriodPoverty

We are delighted to have been able to carry out this project and definitely look forward to impacting more lives through these interventions.

We are on course and would continue to empower more people as we join the fight against #PeriodPoverty globally.
